A book based on the real story:

A JOURNEY THROUGH SCAMMING AND RECOVERY

Have you ever confronted a part of yourself that you have never met before?

Well, this is what happened to me in the fateful year, 2023, when the seemingly benign decision to befriend someone online brought catastrophic consequences.

Having worked in the field of mental health for many years, I have encountered  heart-breaking stories and walked alongside others as they navigated the most difficult paths of their lives, helping them hold onto hope while confronting life and death and no win situations.

I have travelled these journeys many times and know the debilitating nature of the emotions they bring – but always from the sidelines.

I was unprepared for the depth of my own pain and shame when I experienced being scammed.  As terrible as this experience was it also made me stronger and now I am willing  to share this story with you.

“CryptoQueen: You are a Mark” is written on a fascinating premise fitting in well with other recent stories of this type– books like Fake, My Friend Anna, Obsession have been hugely popular depicting con-jobs of romantic nature this one in the cyber realm. The author’s unique perspective as a victim of one, her background in social work also makes it for a fantastic story.

About the author

A real story

The journey I am about to tell you about is about me. Being about me is what makes this different, but in many ways the same; me sharing the same human struggles, flaws and mistakes we all make on our life pathways whether we are a high functioning individual, or an average person just trying to make ends meet.

We are all full of flaws and struggle with the lessons we try to understand about ourselves and, after all, that is what makes us human in our experiences.

Why I want to share it?

Because, it made me stronger and gave me courage I never knew I had, including the courage to write this book. That is, in fact the biggest learning I drew from the whole experience. The most challenging situations in life are the ones that really force us to reflect on the life we live, creating invaluable points of reflection; changing us forever!
